Be courageous and look in the mirror of your soul
Something in you lights up the room
But when its derailed it dims the light in you

Refill your soul and keep the oil burning
Ignite the spark and let it shine through
Let the moments of darkness be challenged by you

You are so much stronger than you can imagine
Embrace your inner self and let it stand true
In you lies the breath of the one who created you

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:3

Maya Angelou said, “Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can’t practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage”. That’s why, among other virtues, we must courageously face our own selves daily. There is power when we acknowledge our true nature and our authentic selves.

Our true nature embodies greatness endowed by God to serve one another. Yes, we have weaknesses, but beneath that sin nature lies the root of our strengths. We must cultivate self-awareness to fully appreciate and embrace who we are created to be.

While one may encounter many defeats, one must not be defeated. Maya Angelou

Each of us encounters small battles, especially in our minds. We must not let our thoughts or problems defeat us, but fight to survive with courage, grace, and faith. Never be afraid to return to the battle because it is yours to pick up. Although it is equally important to know when the battle requires you to surrender it to our undefeatable God and wait patiently. That is another form of courage, the courage to let go and let God.

Remember that you must have the courage to live the life you were created for. There is something that makes you special, but you must go through pruning from time to time to bear fruit.“Turn Struggles Into Triumphs, because out of evil there can come good” – Maya Angelou. The battle isn’t over till you wear the crown.

    A great post.

    1. Marie Cook – I am a food lover, and cooking is therapeutic for me; it relaxes me and transports me to a quieter universe away from the noisy, busy modern world. I am a Counseling Mental Health & Wellness graduate student, wife, and stepmother. I love connecting with people from different cultural backgrounds through food, fashion, wisdom, and lifestyle in general. To be continued because I am still in the process of discovering who I am as I continue this journey called life. I promise to keep you all posted in the meantime.
