The world expects me to choose my genre
But like jazz music, I can’t be tamed into uniformity
The world wants me to wear a label and create a persona
But like jazz, my improvisation yields spontaneity
The world wants me to remain the same for the sake of comfort
But like jazz, I continue to evolve and seek new heights
The world tells me to isolate and focus on me, myself, and I
But like jazz, my cultural melting pot feeds my inspiration and nurtures my creativity
An artist’s mind is his or her oasis to create and manifest without limitations. Like jazz music, an artist or creative mind needs to be free to explore. I don’t like to limit myself, I crave to explore life, writing, blogging, cooking, being a wife, etc. I desire to go beyond categories, stereotypes, and expectations as long as I am true to my beliefs and not infringing on anyone’s right or ability to exist freely.
As bloggers sometimes we limit ourselves to a certain niche or topic and fear exploring or blogging about other topics of interest. Hey, it is your journey and your platform, so use it to satisfy your artistic inclinations. Be wild and be free in your blogging or personal writing, just remember to be mindful of others. Create a safe place for yourself and let others create theirs too. This is one of the reasons why I love jazz music, it is “Wild and Free” and welcomes changes or exploring new musical territories. Let your imagination go wild.
Thank you for reading and stay blessed.
